Initially, Amelie met Aries because of his relationship with her daughter, Princess Reilalia Aviondalia Markov, the namesake of Aries’ empire. Amelie adored Aries upon first meeting him, finding his personality a welcomed refreshment from the uptight and stoic people who filled her days as royalty. Due to the unique nature of Reilalia’s relationship with Aries, Amelie reciprocated Aries’ advances early on, and with her husband’s approval, she began a sexual relationship with him.

While Reilalia expressed annoyance over the relationship between her partner and her mother, she accepted their relationship and ultimately encouraged it. After Reilalia’s passing, Aries and Amelie became very close while consoling one another, allowing their relationship to evolve beyond simple sexual interest.

Once Aries founded Avinadal, Amelie visited him often, stating she was doing so because she missed him, but eventually revealed that she was keeping an eye on how he was handling his new responsibilities. While she did not find him lacking in his capabilities, she noticed his interest lacking in the more boring yet essential parts of imperial rule. Amelie proposed to Aries and became the High Empress soon after, taking over the duties he did not want to deal with and leaving him with the things he found more fun.

Amelie profoundly loves Aries, not only as a husband but as the only man her late daughter ever acknowledged as an equal and, she argues, the only person who loved her daughter more than she did. Amelie can often be seen doting on Aries and playing the role of an immoral mother for him, even asking him to refer to her as ‘Mommy’ occasionally.
